Description
I explore the theme of understanding through making things with hands. Making and interpreting an artwork is strongly related to the senses, but how does a machine that has no senses understand? In my artwork, I considered the questions of intellect and understanding. Both the elderly people with their challenges of remembering and the limitlessness of children’s imaginations inspire me. In both cases, the world appears surprising and incomprehensible in a new way. My artwork invites the viewer to reflect on their observations and expand the dimensions of understanding.
The artwork is hand-woven using sheep’s wool and GOTS-certified organic cotton. It is completely plastic-free and made in an environmentally friendly and ethical manner. The acoustic element inside the artwork improves the space’s acoustics. In testing, it has received absorption class B (Turku AMK’s acoustics laboratory).
